The path to being a film director was not an easy one for Dom as is the case for many directors. His path started at the age of 11 when he made his first stop motion animation with LEGO figures. He then continued to make short action videos with his school friends. His first ever feature film idea came about in 2017, when he wrote the script for his first feature film Brez izhoda (No Way Out). He pitched the script to Bernard Abram. Bernard then convinced his cousin Martin Abram who had and still has a production company called Abrams Production. Together they made the movie a reality after a long time of troubles and reshoots, and so the movie was released in Slovenian cinemas in 2019.
While making Brez izhoda Domen met with Dario Varga who pitched him and his team an incredible true story of Bruno Filipic. Together they decided to make a documentary film based on his amazing true story. After a year of filming the footage was ready to be edited but the pandemic hit so it was hard to get more footage and Domen had left to study in Denmark. Haris Salesevic and Domen then had to edit the film online via Zoom. The film turned out better than expected considering the circumstances and was nominated for awards at several international film festivals.
Domen is currently working on several different projects with his team, focusing on short films.
